Another Slow Start

Same Recipe

“Coach came in and said we weren’t good enough,” Gallagher told Chantal MachabĂ©e on RDS. “That’s a polite way of putting it.”

How many times are we going to hear this?

Carey Price's head must be hurting from standing on it so much!

Okay, enough negative Nancy talk and lets look at the positive things to come out of this game. Your Canadiens beat the team with the most wins and had good all around production post first period.

Coaching Adjustments

We criticize Therrien for his on ice adjustments (or rather the frequency) but at the end of the day he said he needed “two warriors” – Brandon Prust and Dale Weise to play the Plekanec line and it only took 6 minutes into the second for Markov to tie the game with those guys on the ice!

Nathan Beaulieu

He also decided to pair Nathan Beaulieu with Sergei Gonchar instead of Emelin which was a decision that made him happy saying Nathan played with lots of energy and was always fast on the puck while Emelin; "it was not his best night.". Coach also says that Nathan has improved his defense a lot since his last call up which might be bad news for Tinordi.

Beaulieu has seen the most ice time he's ever had in his NHL career at 17:40. He was on the ice for the Gallagher goal and helped get that play start by taking a check in our zone.

I really hope to see Beaulieu get some more ice time with Gonchar, it's why we got him no?

What's Next?

The Habs have 5 days off to enjoy the holidays before continuing their 5 game road trip. The next 4 aren't going to be easy but we're off to a good start and it feels good starting off the holiday period with a win!

Happy holidays from HabsOnlineTV!
