No Halak
Price will be in nets for the Canadiens and unfortunately Halak won’t get the start for the Islanders. Chad Johnson will get this one instead. Halak is 18-6-0 with a 2.24 GAA, .919 save percentage and three shutouts. Johnson has a 5-4-0 record with a 3.59 GAA and .868 save percentage. Here's what Stu Cowan wrote about Halak and the Islanders:
The Islanders have won a league-leading 23 games this season and Halak has won 18 of those. He also earned a place in the Islanders’ record book with 11 consecutive wins, eclipsing the mark of 10 set more than three decades ago by Hall of Famer Billy Smith.
“(The record) feels great, but it’s a team effort,” Halak told the Montreal Gazette’s Pat Hickey on Monday in New York. “Some of the games went to shootouts. Back then, there were no shootouts, it was either regulation or OT. In a shootout, it’s always 50-50 and the guys have scored some big goals for me. If the team plays well in front of me, there’s a good chance we’ll get two points.”
