Carey Price will not start the season



Goaltender Carey Price will miss the Canadiens NHL season opener with an influenza, the group declared Wednesday.

Al Montoya will be relied upon when the Canadiens confront the Sabers in Buffalo on Thursday night. The Canadiens are reviewing Charlie Lindgren to be Montoya's reinforcement on Thursday.

Price will join the group in Ottawa on Saturday.

Besides from Price, injured defenceman Jeff Petry will make a trip with the group to Buffalo and on the off chance that he feels great, he could play on Saturday against the Senators.

Price, who has not played a NHL diversion since he harmed a knee last Nov. 25, missed a third straight day of practice with the ailment. He won't go to Buffalo with the group. There was no word on whether he will be prepared to confront the Senators in Ottawa on Saturday.

Last season's reinforcement, Mike Condon, was claimed off waivers by the Pittsburgh Penguins on Tuesday.
