How to Stream with Google Chromecast: Hacks & Tricks

A complete guide to Chromecast

Google Chromecast: Everything You Need to Know

Using Chromecast on your device

iPhone and Android

The first step is to set up Chromecast on your TV. Connect it to your power cable, turn the TV on, and then switch it to HDMI.

Next is to download Google Home on the App Store for iOS users, and Play Store for Android users. Bear in mind that you will need a stable internet connection to proceed. But, Google no longer supports the setup on a computer, and is only available for mobile devices or tablet.

For the third step, ensure that your mobile device connects to the same Wi-Fi network that your Chromecast device is using. After opening the Google Home app, select Add then select Set up new devices. You must have a Google account for this. If you have not made one yet, now is the time to create your account.

After creating/adding one, grant Chromecast the access to location services found on your settings. Access is needed to search for nearby devices. If you have not yet turned it on, go to your phone/tablet's Settings and switch it on. Then, go back to the app.

Google Home scans for nearby Chromecast devices that are ready to use. If your device is displayed on the screen, tap Next. If you have many devices, select the one you wish to use. But, if you cannot find your device, select Don't see your device.

Google Home will then connect your device to the new Chromecast for configuration. It will display a code on the TV. If it is the same code you see on your device, select Yes. If you cannot see the code, move closer to the Chromecast and select Try Again to allow Chromecast to scan for devices. After completing all the steps, you may now enjoy Chromecast on your device.
